Tracking the last of arctic air before a warmup

TODAY: It's cold and dry for most today, but some will see some passing snow showers this afternoon. At the very northern tip of a system passing by to the south this afternoon, folks from the Lake of the Ozarks to Rolla will have the chance to see some snow showers that likely leave at most a trace of accumulation. With cold ground in place, anything that falls should stick. Conditions will quickly change to the south where better chances for snow and freezing rain develop. Otherwise the rest of us are treated to a cold and dry day, with temperatures holding in the low 20s under partly cloudy skies. Better chances of sunshine lie to the north. Winds are light today, but even a light breeze will have us feeling like single digits this morning, and teens this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Temperatures fall into the teens overnight, despite a wind shift from the southwest. Clouds will linger for many, as we're on the edge of thick clouds focused just to our south.

EXTENDED: Still on the fringe of clouds to our south, winds from the southwest will warm us into the upper 30s and low 40s by Wednesday afternoon. Thursday, that trend continues, pushing temperatures into the upper 40s, nearing 50. A cold front arrives Friday, setting temperatures back into the 30s, but only temporarily as we climb into the 50s this weekend.
