Tracking frigid wind chills by tomorrow morning

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy with lows in the upper single digits to low teens. Wind chills in the low single digits.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy and cold with highs in the upper 20s. Wind chills in the teens.

EXTENDED:  Patchy sleet is possible through this evening along I-44, but the wort of it will be confined to southern and southeast Missouri into tomorrow morning where winter weather alerts are in place. Cold air sticks around overnight as lows dip into the low teens with wind chills in the low single digits by morning. Tomorrow will bring a bit more sunshine, but it's still colder than normal with highs in the mid-upper 20s. We gradually warm Wednesday into the upper 30s with sunshine returning on Thursday, along with afternoon temperatures in the mid-40s. A weak front moves in Friday, dropping us back into the 30s but no precipitation is expected. Over the weekend, upper high pressure builds over the region, sending the jet stream to our north and increasing temperatures to the upper 40s on both Saturday and Sunday. As a warm front moves north on Sunday, a few showers are possible, but the mild air sticks around long enough to extend into early next week.
