Tracking warm conditions early today ahead of evening precip
TODAY: Temperatures start near freezing and quickly rebound warmer than yesterday thanks to continued southerly winds. Highs climb into the mid-50s but expect mostly cloudy skies ahead of light evening precip. Spotty showers could begin as soon as the afternoon, transitioning to a mix of freezing rain overnight. Accumulations are expected to be low.
TOMORROW: The cold front responsible for the early weekend's precip will bring back bitter cold by Sunday. Temperatures hit the teens in clearest areas early in the day, and highs will barely brush above freezing under mostly cloudy skies. Another round of freezing rain is possible in the late evening across southeastern MO, and accumulations are again expected to be minimal.
EXTENDED: Areas that do receive precipitation late Sunday could see slick spots for the Monday commute, but this chance is extremely isolated. Next week is mostly dry as arctic high pressure will confine rain chances to our south but a few systems will attempt to brush by the area. With mostly dry conditions, highs sink to the 20s the first half of the workweek, and we're in for a steady climb to the upper 30s the rest of the week.
