Callaway County Sheriff hearing for DWI case held Monday, next date set for June

Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism had a court hearing Monday at the Randolph County Courthouse for his DWI case.
Chism was charged in November with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
A criminal trial date has yet to be set, but a hearing over Chism’s driver’s license is scheduled for June 27, according to Chism’s lawyer Travis Noble.
Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Stephanie Luntsford filed charges Nov. 10 after Chism posted a $2,000 bond the day of his arrest, according to online court records.
Moberly police were dispatched to an Arby's parking lot Oct. 6 after receiving a report of property damage. An officer believed Chism was intoxicated and arrested him.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, Chism crashed his personal vehicle into a concrete barrier.
A probable cause statement says Chism was asleep when an officer came up to his pickup truck and a puddle of vomit was on the ground outside the driver's side door. An open bottle of "Mike's Harder Lemonade" was in the center console, the officer wrote. He had to be shaken awake, the officer wrote.
The statement says Chism refused to get out of the vehicle when commanded and resisted officers who pulled him out. He smelled like alcohol, his speech was slurred and he was staggering, the officer wrote.
Noble told ABC 17 News in October that Chism was sitting in a car with the engine off and having a drink while he waited for someone to pick him up. The lawyer said police did not request a blood test.
