Tracking rain and accumulating snow by tomorrow night

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 20s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with highs in the lower 40s. Rain showers move in from the south after sunset and eventually turn to snow overnight.

EXTENDED: The Stormtrack Weather team issued a Weather Alert Day ahead of our next winter storm system that is expected to move in Tuesday night as rain and eventually transition over to snow by Tuesday night. Snow will continue overnight through about midday on Wednesday before tapering off to the east. Snow amounts will range from 2-4" for much of Mid-Missouri, with amounts in excess of 6" along and south of the I-44 corridor. Winds are not expected to be a problem, but wet snow will make roads slushy and slick through Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures will be cold on Thursday, with some isolated slick spots possible, especially in the morning. We'll end the week warmer and dry on Friday as highs reach the mid-40s. Saturday will bring cloud cover to start the weekend as temperatures reach near 50 degrees, but another storm system could bring rain and a wintry mix between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Behind this system, temperatures cool into the mid-30s on Sunday and into the teens by Sunday night.
