American Pegula advances to 4th round at Australian Open

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Jessica Pegula has cruised into the fourth round of the Australian Open with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Marta Kostyuk. The third-seeded Pegula was a quarterfinalist the past two years at Melbourne Park. The American needed just 65 minutes for victory as she set up a round-of-16 match against 2021 French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova. Last year’s finalist Danielle Collins of the U.S. was beaten 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 by Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. Coco Gauff was playing Bernarda Pera later. Krejcikova was the first player to advance to the fourth round after a 6-2, 6-3 win over Anhelina Kalinina to open play at Rod Laver Arena.
