Tracking a chilly Friday, rain and snow possible on Saturday

TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 20s.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly sunny and chilly with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s.

EXTENDED: Clouds stick around overnight, but temperatures will be a bit cooler as we drop into the upper 20s by tomorrow morning. We'll see more sunshine tomorrow, getting us into the upper 30s to low 40s, and we'll end the week on a dry note. Saturday starts off dry to kick off the weekend, but it will be cloudy and cool as highs reach the low to mid-40s. We'll be tracking low pressure out to our west that will bring precipitation in from the west likely before sunset, changing over to wet snow gradually as temperatures drop Saturday night. Areas along and north of Highway 50 could see a dusting to 1" by Sunday morning, with points south likely ending up with slushy rain as temperatures won't be quite as cool. Farther north, snow amounts could reach 2" by Sunday morning where temperatures are cooler for longer into Saturday night. This would be from about areas north of Marshall back toward northern Audrain County. Roads will likely be wet and slushy, but thankfully pavement temperatures stay just above freezing through much of Saturday night, and warm into the 40s and 50s on Sunday. That said, we'll watch for slick spots on bridges and ramps with morning temperatures right at 32 degrees on early Sunday morning. Any precipitation on Sunday moves out early, leaving us with a chilly afternoon with some cloud cover and highs in the lower 40s. Next week looks chilly, and we're eyeing the potential of another winter storm to move through the region between Tuesday and Tuesday night. There's still plenty of uncertainty on the track of that one, but temperatures look to be cooler as that moves in so if it does pan out, we will likely end up with accumulating snow. The rest of next week looks colder with highs in the 30s and a few chances for flurries.
