Authorities investigating homicide in Fayette
FAYETTE, Mo. (KMIZ)
UPDATE: The Howard County Sheriff's Office confirmed it is investigating a homicide.
Authorities confirmed the victim, who they believe died from a gunshot wound, was found in a vehicle.
The Howard County Sheriff said authorities received a call from someone reporting someone had been shot in their vehicle. The caller was able to provide a description of someone leaving the scene.
Officials believe the shooter left the area because there were reports of someone being picked up by a vehicle who matched the suspect description.
"Well, we had information there was an individual that matched that description that was picked up by another vehicle actually, just a couple, three blocks away and then they left in another direction. So, that's some of the information that we had," said Sheriff Mike Neal while speaking with media on Hackberry Street.
Authorities did not release the name of the suspect or victim.
Residents are not being told to stay indoors because investigators believe this is an isolated incident.
