Tracking much warmer temperatures by tomorrow, rain chances later this week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and not as cold with lows in the upper 20s to around 30.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and windy with gusts up to 35-40 mph. Highs in the lower 50s.

EXTENDED: High pressure has slid to our south, allowing winds to shift to the south and warm us up into the mid-30s with temperatures remaining near freezing overnight. Tomorrow, upper winds shift to the southwest, allowing temperatures to warm into the upper 40s to around 50 degrees. Wednesday night into Thursday, a warm front lifts north across the region, bringing fog for the morning commute Thursday and warming temperatures into the lower 60s by Thursday afternoon. The associated cold front will bring a chance of showers by Thursday evening, especially along and east of Highway 63. Rain chances are lower on Friday with the best chance of showers ahead of the cold front that looks to be situated just east of the Mississippi River. We'll be a little cooler, but still manage to make it to the upper 40s to lower 50s on Friday. Saturday starts off dry, but another low pressure system moving to our south could bring showers by late afternoon into the evening, so you might want to have an umbrella handy if you have plans on New Year's Eve. New Year's Day is dry with highs near 50, and the spring-like air sticks around into next week as we start Monday in the mid-50s with showers in the forecast.
