Mizzou’s Kobe Brown named SEC Player of the Week

COLUMBIA, MO. (KMIZ)

Mizzou men's basketball senior Kobe Brown was named the SEC Player of the Week on Tuesday after a record-setting performance against No. 16 Illinois.

This comes just one day after Brown was named the Lute Olson Award National Player of the Week.

Against the Illini, Brown put together 31 points to go with eight assists, five rebounds and four steals. His 31 points are the most ever by a Mizzou player in the McBride Homes Braggin’ Rights Game.

Overall, Brown set career highs with his 31 points and eight assists, while his four steals are a season-best total.

So far this season, Brown is second on the team with 14.4 points per game and first with 5.7 rebounds. He's also shooting 61.5 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from 3-point range.

This is the second time in Brown's career he has received the SEC Player of the Week award. The last was in January following a win over No. 15 Alabama.

Mizzou will begin conference play at home Wednesday against No. 19 Kentucky at 6 p.m.
