Local restaurants donate food to first responders on Christmas

Columbia, Mo. (KMIZ)

One Columbia restaurant's effort united local businesses to provide free Christmas meals to Boone County first responders.

COMO Smoke and Fire's annual Ribs for Responders campaign provided barbeque, coffee, and many other food and drinks at no charge on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

The Columbia Police Department and the Boone County Fire District were among some of the departments to receive the donations.

In a Facebook post, COMO Smoke and Fire said they served nearly 600 firefighters, police officers, nurses, doctors, paramedics and more.

Other places like the Boone County Southern Fire Protection District expressed their gratitude on social media.
