The Jan. 6 select committee made history Monday when its members voted to recommend criminal charges against former President Donald Trump to the Department of Justice.

The hearing capped months of public meetings focused on what happened Jan. 6, 2021, when a pro-Trump crowd illegally entered the U.S. Capitol as Congress was voting to certify the presidential election.
