Jefferson City man in critical condition after pedestrian crash

A Jefferson City man was flown to a hospital in a helicopter Saturday night after being hit by a car, according to the city police department.

A spokesperson for MU Health told ABC 17 News around 3:30 p.m. Sunday that the man who was hit, Jordan Phenenger of Jefferson City, was in critical condition.

Jefferson City police officers arrived at the scene of the crash in the 1800 block of Southwest Boulevard around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, according to a crash report.

Phenenger was seriously injured after a 16-year-old driver hit him. Police say Phenenger “walked out into traffic” before the crash.

He was taken to a high level trauma center at a hospital in Columbia. The JCPD Traffic Unit is investigating the incident, according to the report.
