More than 60 locations in Boone County could handle the first batches of medical marijuana in the state next year.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services released the names and locations of the companies that applied to receive a license for a dispensary, cultivator, infused product manufacturing or testing facility. The state received 2,163 applications total and will award 348 licenses by Dec. 31.

Boone County has 66 unique applications for various different facilities. That includes 51 dispensaries, eight infused product manufacturers, six cultivators and one lab testing facility.

The state said it has collected more than $13 million through application fees. A blind scorer, Wise Health Solutions, will review the applications. Those with the highest scores, based on various criteria such as safety and owner experience, will receive the licenses.
