Heat index hovers under 100, storms return Thursday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and muggy. Lows in the low 70s.

WEDNESDAY: Hot and humid, mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, heat index in the mid-90s.

EXTENDED: Heat hangs on through Thursday before a cold front arrives and brings a chance for showers and thunderstorms late Thursday afternoon into the evening. Some storms could bring up to 1″ of rain, plus the threat of gusty winds in northwest Missouri. Storms exit early Friday morning, leaving us cooler and less humid to end the work week. Highs Friday and Saturday remain in the low 80s, but the heat returns by Sunday into next week with highs back above average in the upper 80s.
