Tracking a gloomy afternoon with rain returning overnight

THIS AFTERNOON: Temperatures reach the low 50s with cloudy skies keeping us mild. Winds will be nearly calm and variable, not serving to change temperature much at all.

TONIGHT: We'll stay dry until around 5-6 p.m. at the earliest for those south of I-70, and after 6-7 p.m. for those north of I-70. This timeframe is for the initial onset of precipitation, which may be a light shower or drizzle. Meaningful rainfall will likely hold off until midnight or later for those south of I-70, with widespread rain not reaching north of I-70 until later in the night.

EXTENDED: The bulk of the rain Thursday will fall south of I-70, with those areas possibly picking up a half inch or more of rainfall. Meanwhile, those to the north may not pick up a quarter of an inch. Overall, Thursday is looking soggy, with rain in the morning, a break around midday, and another chance for passing showers in the evening. Expect steady temperatures, in the 40s to low 50s through the day. We'll dry out Friday, and remain in the 40s. Saturday, we're already watching another disturbance pass by. Over the last few days, it's aimed to the south of the area, but it's trending further north recently, so we'll introduce rain chances for those south of I-70. Our next system that rolls in early next week is now looking like it may delay a bit, lowering our rain chances for Sunday, and centering them more on Monday night, and Tuesday. It's still early, but this may be our next chance to hear a rumble of thunder.
