Tracking rain chances and daily cloud cover next week

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and chilly with lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the lower 50s.

EXTENDED: Next week is looking active but temperatures look to stay above freezing, so there's little concern of any winter weather. Clouds increase tonight, and that will be a theme through the week. We manage to warm up into the lower 50s tomorrow with a sprinkle or two with a front off to our south near I-44. The cold front will work its way through on Tuesday, dropping our temperatures into the low to mid-40s. The pattern begins to become more southwesterly with warmer temperatures returning on Wednesday. Another area of low pressure tracks across the region between Wednesday night and Thursday, bringing our best chance for measurable rain for the week. Showers continue through Thursday, exiting before sunrise on Friday. Rain amounts will be in the 0.5" to 1" range. Another system moves across the Midwest over the weekend, bringing another shot at rain between Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will be in the upper 40s during the day from Friday through Sunday, with lows in the mid-50s. Total rainfall will be highest along and south of I-70, with 1-2" over the next 7 days.
