13-year-old in custody after leading deputies on car chase

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 13-year-old driver led Callaway County deputies on a chase Tuesday night before being captured and detained in Fulton, the sheriff's office said.

A deputy tried to stop the vehicle at about 7 p.m. Tuesday on Route F for an equipment violation, the Callaway County Sheriff's Office said in a news release posted online Wednesday. The car chase stopped near Westminster College in Fulton and the 13-year-old driver ran through downtown before being caught in the Brick District, the release says.

The vehicle was stolen, according to the sheriff's office. The child was detained by juvenile authorities.

More arrests and charges are possible in the ongoing investigation, the release says.
