Traffic study to be conducted Wednesday and Thursday on Forum Boulevard in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Temporary traffic-counting cameras will be set up on Wednesday and Thursday on Forum Boulevard to complete a traffic study. The cameras will point at various locations along Forum Boulevard.

The traffic study – which is being conducted by Engineering Surveys & Services, a consultant for the City of Columbia Public Works -- is one of the first steps of the Forum Boulevard improvement project, which will include improvements to Forum Boulevard between Chapel Hill Road and Woodrail Avenue.

This project was included as part of voter-approved projects from the Capital Improvement Sales Tax Extension ballot initiative from August 2015. The total budget for this project is $12.7 million.

The construction -- scheduled to begin in summer 2025 – may include:

• Widening of Forum Boulevard with an additional driving lane in each direction and turn lanes where needed.
• Reconstructing and widening the bridge over Hinkson Creek.
• Widening the box culvert over the MKT trail.
• Constructing sidewalks and bike lanes.
