Tracking scattered storms, major cool down tomorrow

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and breezy with lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Breezy and warm to start with highs reaching in the mid-70s. Showers and storms move in by late afternoon, bringing a big cool down.

EXTENDED: It will be breezy and warm to start the day with temperatures still managing to get into the low to mid-70s before the cold front arrives, especially east of Highway 63. The cold front should start moving in by early afternoon, bringing scattered rain and storms to our northwestern and western tier between 2:00-4:00 p.m. A couple of these could be strong with wind gusts up to 50 mph in our western counties that are under a level 1 severe risk for Thursday. The overall severe risk is going to be low, so a Weather Alert Day is not anticipated. Showers stick around into Thursday evening, but it's a cold rain as temperatures dip into the 40s quickly. We'll clear out quickly by Friday morning with temperatures dipping into the lower 30s. Friday will be deceivingly sunny as we only top out in the low 40s. Wind chills dip into the teens on Saturday morning with gusty winds sticking around. Highs reach the upper 30s to around 40 for both days of the weekend. Another storm system brewing between Monday and Tuesday could bring precipitation, but with cooler air in place and uncertainty in timing, we'll be watching this closely for any change in precipitation type. The cooler than average air looks to stick around for all of next week with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s.
