Wildfire burns about 20 acres in southern Boone County

HARTSBURG, Mo. (KMIZ)

A wildfire in a farm field burned about 20 acres near Hartsburg in southern Boone County on Wednesday.

Southern Boone County Fire Protection District spokesman Colin Wright said at the scene that a combine in the field, near Hartsburg Bottom Road and South Bush Landing Road, might have been the source of the fire.

Firefighters had the blaze under control early Wednesday afternoon.

Boone County emergency dispatchers warned people that they might see some smoke from the fire in the southern part of the county.

Dispatchers sent a public alert at about 12:30 p.m. saying a wildfire in the Hartsburg area would make smoke visible in southern Boone County.
