Mizzou women’s basketball wins opener at Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team won the season opener on the road at Missouri State 68-51.

The Tigers were led by senior forward Hayley Frank with 17 points and four rebounds. Sara-Rose Smith also started the season big with a double-double, 10 points and 10 boards.

Mizzou dominated in the paint scoring 44 of the 68 points down low.

Transfer Katlyn Gilbert started her Mizzou career with nine points. Both freshman also made an impact on this game with Rock Bridge alum Averi Kroenke scoring two points and Ashton Judd having two points and five rebounds.

Up next - Mizzou will have its home opener Thursday against Bradley at 7 p.m.
