Tracking gusty winds and mild temperatures, storms on Friday
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and mild with lows in the mid-60s. Breezy with wind gusts up to 30 mph.
TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with wind gusts between 35-40 mph. Highs in the upper 70s. Storms moving in from the west after sunset.
EXTENDED: Clouds move in tonight in advance of our next storm system, keeping temperatures in the low to mid-60s. Friday is even more windy with low pressure just out to our west, with gusts getting to 35-40 mph at times. Temperatures get into the upper 70s before a cold front moves in from the west, with heavy rain and storms moving into areas along Highway 65 between 5-7 PM. This corridor is where the highest potential for an isolated strong storm or two will be before instability decreases farther east. Despite the lack of instability, heavy rain and strong winds between 40-50 mph will be possible in storms as they move east across Mid-Missouri Friday night. Rain amounts look to fall in the 1-2" range through early Saturday morning. Cloud cover and a few sprinkles will be possible as low pressure tracks to our northeast before noon on Saturday, and strong northwest winds will make it chilly to start the weekend. We'll see more late day sunshine and temperatures topping out in the upper 50s. Sunday will be warmer as winds pick back up from the southwest and send temperatures into the upper 60s. The upper pattern will remain warmer than average next week with a southwest upper flow. Expect highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s through late next week.
