Boone County prosecutors charged a Columbia man Saturday with four felonies for allegedly shooting at a clerk outside a Casey's General Store.

Quintin Gilmore, 38, was charged with first-degree assault, shooting in public, armed criminal action and evidence tampering in connection with a shots-fired incident on Casey's on Clark Lane. Police were called to the store at about 9 a.m. Saturday on a report of an employee being shot at by a customer, according to a probable cause statement.

The employee told police that Gilmore argued with her in the store and threw his drink and food at her, according to the statement. She followed Gilmore outside to get his vehicle on video and he pulled a handgun and fired at her, the statement says.

Police say the woman was not injured by a bullet that went through the leg of her pants.

The driver and a passenger of the vehicle Gilmore was in told police Gilmore fired the shot and threw the gun from the vehicle.

Gilmore remained in the Boone County Jail on Monday without bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday afternoon.
