Tracking showers and storms to kick off the workweek

Today: Scattered showers move in from the west by midmorning. Widespread showers and storms continue all afternoon as temperatures hover in the mid-70s.

Tonight: More showers possible overnight as a cold front slowly slugs eastward. Low pressure tracking along this boundary will lead to a resurgence in storm activity early Tuesday. Temperatures steadily drop all night to the 50s by daybreak Tuesday.

Extended: Showers eventually exit the region by Tuesday afternoon with rainfall totals from 1-3". Areas near I-44 will see the upper end of this rainfall by the end of Tuesday night. Temperatures continue to drop Tuesday as winds shift from the north providing a cooler and drier atmosphere. Highs throughout the rest of the week meander into the lower 60s.
