Red Cross continues to shelter victims of tornado

34 people stayed in Red Cross shelters in Jefferson City and Eldon overnight Saturday into Sunday.

Thomas Jefferson Middle School and the Eldon Community Center remain open for anyone who needs a place to stay.

People can bring clothing, bedding, toiletries, medication, and items for children.

There is also a temporary pet shelter at Thomas Jefferson Middle School that is being operated by the Humane Society of Missouri.

“We don’t want anyone to turn away from the shelter because we don’t have a plan for their pets,” said shelter manager Mike Quigley Jr. “We partner with people like the Humane Society to accommodate their pets in times of crisis just like we accommodate them in times of crisis.”

There are two dogs and seven cats currently being sheltered.
