Questions remain after Jefferson City man’s ‘suspicious’ death
The death of a Jefferson City business owner is still being investigated by the Maryland Heights Police Department.
Responders found Jasen Smith, 44, unconsious and suffering a severe head injury Wednesday night following a concert at Maryland Heights’ Hollywood Casino Ampitheater.
Smith’s wife of nearly 5 years, Darcy Smith, told police her husband had gone back into the concert venue to retrieve a souvenir shirt that the couple had left behind. When Jasen didn’t return, his wife called his cell phone and paramedics answered the call.
The 44-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy was scheduled to take place the following weekend, but ABC 17’s calls for a status update from the city of Maryland Heights went unreturned Monday.
Darcy Smith described her late-husband as a caring man, a devoted husband and loving father.
Maryland Heights investigators told a St. Louis media outlet Friday that there were no indentifieable witnesses.
