Democrats call for passage of ‘Missouri Nondiscrimination Act’
Missouri Democrats called on the majority party to fast-track passage of the Missouri Nondiscrimination Act.
In a news conference Thursday, state Rep. Greg Razer criticized the GOP over its “silence” on the matter.
The bill would add sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of protected classes in Missouri’s Human Rights Act.
The MHRA already prohibits discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations on the basis of race, sex and national origin.
House speaker Rep. Elijah Haahr, R-Springfield, called the bill a “good conversation to have” in an earlier new conference.
The bill is currently before the House General Rules Committee.
