Breezy, damp start leads to dry and sunny

SATURDAY: We’re tracking morning rain chances to start the day, so grab the umbrella if you’re heading outdoors. Showers will quickly move west to east throughout the morning, and eventually exiting by this afternoon. This is all out ahead of a cold front that will move through this afternoon. We’ll see windy conditions today courtesy of this wound up low pressure system swinging through our cold front, with gusts up to 45 mph possible. Highs will be pleasant in the low to mid 70s. As this cold front moves through, it could spark up a shower or storm, but the best chance in the state will be south, likely out of the viewing area.

TONIGHT: We’ll stay breezy into tonight in the wake of this front, with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will cool off into the mid to upper 30s, but it looks like the winds will help keep frost from developing overnight.

EXTENDED: After a cool start, Sunday will only top out in the low 60s, but winds look to back off during the day. Folks up north could pick up an isolated shower, but a better chance for the whole viewing area holds off until late Sunday into Monday morning. As this better chance moves in, there is an outside threat of hail with some of the stronger cells, but we don’t expect anything widespread. The bigger concern going forward won’t be severe weather, but the potential heavy rainfall we could see add up over the coming days. We’ll have daily rain chances, with many of us picking up 2-4″ and locally heavier amounts. Check back with ABC 17 News on-air and online for the latest forecast updates.
