Columbia man charged after apparent shooting

A Columbia faces multiple charges after an apparent shooting in northeastern Columbia.

Juan Gonzales-Pimentel, 22, was taken into custody Thursday after officers found two guns in his possession. Gonzales-Pimentel was pulled over in the 2700 block of Paris Road, detectives were apparently aware of charges against him.

Police documents show Gonzales-Pimentel may have been involved with a shooting earlier this year. A probable cause statement from January of this year asserts that he and an unidentified man shot at a victim in the 1100 block of Eastland Circle in northeastern Columbia.

Apparently Gonzales-Pimentel and the man tried to block the victim from leaving the scene, according to documents. The victim later identified Gonzales-Pimentel from a photo lineup.

Gonzales-Pimentel faces charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
