Former Mizzou QB Drew Lock gets set for NFL Draft

Former Mizzou quarterback Drew Lock will likely be a first round selection in the NFL Draft on Thursday night. You can watch the draft live on ABC 17 at 7 p.m.

Most mock drafts have Lock going anywhere from No. 10 to the Broncos all the way to No. 28 to the Chargers. ESPN’s Todd McShay has Lock as the third best QB in this year’s draft class behind Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) and Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State).

Other mock drafts have Lock going No. 15 to the Redskins, No. 17 to the Giants or No. 30 to the Packers. The defending Super Bowl champion Patriots have the 32nd pick. If Lock is still available, New England could select him as well.

Lock finished his Mizzou career with 12,193 passing yards and 99 touchdowns – both are second in program history behind Chase Daniel. In 2017, the Lee’s Summit native threw an SEC record 44 touchdown passes.

Lock is with his family in Nashville, TN for the draft. Our own Tyler Murry caught up with the Lock family on Thursday afternoon.

Several former Mizzou football players have sent messages to Lock on social media, including Chase Daniel.

Former Mizzou football coach Gary Pinkel said he is very proud of the way Lock handled adversity during his time at MU.

We’re excited about you. Lock will be the first Mizzou player drafted in the first round since Charles Harris in 2017 (No. 22 to Miami). He’ll be the first MU quarterback drafted in the first round since Blaine Gabbert in 2011 (No. 10 to Jacksonville). The only other Tiger quarterback selected in round one was Steve Pisarkiewicz in 1977 (No. 19 to St. Louis). Mizzou has 20 first round picks in program history.
