Former MU pediatric surgeon’s medical license revoked

The Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts revoked the license of a former University of Missouri pediatric surgeon on April 18 after he was charged for possessing child pornography.

Dr. Guy Rosenschein was terminated from his part-time position at MU after the charges were filed in 2016. He served as an adjunct clinical instructor on and off starting in September 2009.

Rosenschein was charged with sexual exploitation of a child less than 13 years old and exploitation with intent to distribute in Bernalillo County, New Mexico.

Deputies found Rosenschein had uploaded pornographic images to a website, according to the probable cause statement. In addition, they found one of Rosenschein’s former patients in his bedroom of his home in November 2016 wearing only underwear. Rosenschein denied having a sexual relationship with the teen.

Investigators found a flash drive Rosenschein admitted was his, and had “dozens of images of child pornography.” The doctor admitted to trading “naked pictures of people,” but did not believe they were ever of underage people having sex.

Rosenschein is facing at least 16 lawsuits from families of former patients, according to reporting from the Kansas City Star. None have been filed in Missouri.
