Data: Burglaries occur frequently in Boone County

Burglaries are a regular occurrence in Boone, Callaway and Cole counties, according to data from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Uniform Crime Report.

Data shows Boone County has a higher number of burglaries per year over the last nine years than Callaway and Cole. However, Boone County’s population is significantly higher than Callaway County, with a population of 172,229.

Callaway County has a population of 44,361.

But according to the graph below, Callaway and Cole counties have a similar burglary rate over the past nine years. The UCR shows Cole County has a population of 114,459, 61 percent larger than Callaway County.In Boone County alone, $1,218,799 in property was stolen in 2018. That is $3,339.17 per day.

According to the report, there were 662 burglaries in Boone County in 2018, or 1.8 a day.

2018 data also shows the highest months for burglaries were August, September and October. August had the most with 81, while February had the least with 29.
