Camden County house fire caused by lightning strike

No one is hurt after a lightning strike caught a Camden County home on fire late Wednesday night.

The Tri-County Fire Protection District said its crews responded to the fire at a home in the 15000 block of State Highway A around 11:10 a.m.

That’s about 11 miles outside of Richland.

Crews said the lightning strike caused the fire to start in several areas in the attic of the home.

The living area of the home did suffer minor fire damage, as well as significant water and smoke damage.

Firefighters were able to clear the scene around 2:35 a.m.
