Fire destroys Claysville home

No one was injured but a southern Boone County home was destroyed in a Friday afternoon fire.

A passerby called emergency dispatchers about a fire at a home at 5640 Claysville Road, Southern Boone County Fire Protection District spokesman Barrett Glascock said. The homeowners were not home when the fire broke out and flames were showing from the building when they arrived after hearing about it, Glascock said.

Holts Summit fire crews provided mutual aid by bringing water for tanker trucks, however firefighters had to shuttle trucks back and forth down the road to fill up from a hydrant. Glascock said doing so did not slow the response to the fire.

Firefighters were also using foam to suppress the flames.
