Cole county deputies find 50 marijuana plants in home

The Cole County Sheriff’s Office confiscated about 50 marijuana plants, a gun and drug items from a Cole County home early Tuesday morning.

Four people were arrested in the incident after deputies responded to the 1200 block of Westview Drive in response to a drive by shooting.

Authorities found several shell casings and were able to determine where the incident originated. After a search of the home, deputies confiscated the items, which were allegedly used in small grow operation, according to the Cole County Sheriff’s Office.

A total of three people were arrested on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle.

The identities of the suspects were not released to the public Tuesday.

Sheriff Wheeler said the department typically refrains from releasing names and photos of suspects until the county prosecutor files formal charges.

ABC 17 News filed an open records request to the county and the request was denied.

Wheeler said his deputies could not have made a case against the suspects without the assistance of call-in tips.
