Judge throws out Hawley subpoena

A Cole County Circuit Court judge threw out a subpoena issued to Senator Josh Hawley in a case against Governor Mike Parson regarding misuse of Missouri’s Sunshine Law.

Judge Patricia Joyce said in the order that taking evidence from Hawley would impose an “undue burden or expense” and that there is no evidence that Hawley has any information relevant to the case.

Attorney Elad Gross, who has announced he is running for Missouri attorney general in 2020, filed the lawsuit after the Governor’s Office did not respond to his records request of 54 categories of documents unless he paid a fee of $3,618.40.

Former governor Eric Greitens was also subpoenaed in the case. Greitens’ attorneys have not responded to the subpoena.
