Columbia/Boone County health department to host flu shot clinics in October
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) is set to offer free flu shots to anyone between six months and 18 years old during school-based clinics.
The vaccinations are accessible for those ages through the health department's partnership with MU Health Care. Anyone more than 18 years old can still get a flu vaccination at one of the clinics or at the health department with an appointment.
The cost of the vaccination may vary based on insurance coverage. Patients without insurance coverage will pay $25 for a flu shot.
Appointments aren't required for the flu shot clinics, however, one is needed to get vaccinated at the PHHS clinic at 1005 W. Worley St. Patients can call 573-874-7249 to schedule an appointment.

While the flu vaccine won't protect against COVID-19, the vaccination can decrease the overall prevalence of respiratory illness in the community. This, in turn, can help make it easier for hospitals to deal with potential COVID-19 case increases over the winter.
Vaccinations against COVID-19 won't be available at the flu shot clinics, however, residents can visit the health department's website for a list of COVID-19 vaccination locations.
