Forum Boulevard lane closure extended as city works to identify water issue

Columbia Public Works confirmed Tuesday that a lane restriction on Forum Boulevard will continue until mill and overlay paving can be scheduled.

Repairs began March 14, but crews saw some delay in repairs due to flowing water found under the right of way near the roadbed and rain. In a Facebook post, the department said the lane restriction, which is just north of Forum Katy Parkway in the northbound lane, has been extended as Columbia Water and Light continues to excavate in order to identify the water issue.

The city also said crews may have to install a French drain, which is designed to catch water before it gets to the roadway and redirect it to a stormwater box.

The city said this work needs to be done so that crews can mill and overlay Forum Boulevard this April or May. The mill and overlay work is expected to be scheduled during evening hours, city officials said.
