WEATHER ALERT DAY UPDATE: More Snow Today

Synopsis

The next round of snow arrives this morning and wraps up later tonight with an additional 1-3" of snow possible.

Timing

A second wave of snowfall is expected to begin early Monday, but quickly increase in intensity through the afternoon hours, once again. Moderate to heavy bands of snow are likely, leading to additional accumulations-- 1-3" of snow is possible, with the heaviest southeast.

Precipitation Type

Snow looks to be the main story along and north of I-70 where snow totals will range from 5-8". Northern Boone county will be the target for that high end amount. 3-5" can be expected further south as mixing of sleet/freezing rain will cut into snow totals.

Impacts

Of course, depending on what type of precipitation, you may have slightly different impacts on the roadways but we've issued the Weather Alert Day because it looks like everyone will deal with them in one form or fashion. As a rule, it's looking like 3-6" of snow can be expected on average across mid-Missouri, with locally heavier amounts possible, especially north of I-70. A glaze to 0.1" of ice is possible along and south of I-70 into Monday morning. Travel will be slow Sunday evening, and roads will still be slick into Monday morning, with isolated visibility problems possible.

The worst times times to travel will be late morning Sunday & Monday, lasting through each afternoon/evening.
