Harrisburg and Marshall Public Schools closed due to COVID-19 concerns

MGN Online

Harrisburg and Marshall School Districts are canceling classes due to concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak, commonly known as coronavirus.

Harrisburg School District said Sunday night all schools will be closed until at least March 30.

Marshall Public Schools will also be closed Monday and Tuesday after a staff member was taken to the hospital on Saturday for flu-like symptoms.

The district said the person was given several tests, including one for COVID-19.  All test results have been negative, but the one for the coronavirus will not be available until later this week.

The district says the staff member and his family are now in quarantine until test results are available.

We expect to be informed of the test results Tuesday and will then make the decision when to come back to school. We ask that you do not panic, but plan for the days away from school.

Marshall Public schools also canceled all activities, practices and trips for students, teachers and staff.
