One flown to hospital after shooting in Sedalia

SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Officers in Sedalia found a man with gunshot wounds Saturday night.

According to a news release, officers were called to the 1200 block of East 13th Street just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 49-year-old male with gunshot wounds to his chest, police said. The man was taken to University of Missouri Hospital and is in stable condition.

Police said the victim and Michael R. Carpenter, 28, had gotten in a fight and Carpenter shot the victim.

Carpenter was taken to Pettis County Jail. Prosecutors charged him with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and drug possession. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday.

No lawyer was listed for Carpenter in online court records.
