COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A woman who was detained in the Boone County Jail was found dead Friday morning.

According to a social media post from the office, Kimberly Denise McDonald, of Columbia, was found dead at 8 a.m. She was 54. The office said she was unresponsive in her cell. Another person who was detained tried to wake McDonald for breakfast. On-site medical personnel determined she was dead.

The Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook that McDonald was arrested by the Columbia Police Department and brought to the jail at 12:15 a.m. Thursday. The office stated she had warrants for failure to appear on multiple charges.

The Sheriff’s Office said McDonald closed the door to her cell at 11:28 p.m. Thursday and the cell was locked from 11:30 p.m.-6 a.m. The Sheriff’s Office claims multiple floor checks were conducted and there was no reason to believe McDonald had a medical issue. It stated she was the only person in that cell.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office’s Investigations Unit is investigating the death. There is no suspicion of foul play, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office is determining the cause of her death, according to the post.
