VIDEO: Car catches fire in downtown Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Firefighters extinguished a car fire in downtown Columbia a little before 5 p.m. Thursday.

The white sedan burst into flames in a parking lot near Mizzou Credit Union in the 100 block of East Broadway, the Columbia Fire Department said on social media.

The burning car created a large plume of black smoke visible blocks away.

Columbia Fire Department Assistant Chief Brad Fraizer said no injuries were reported. Fraizer said the fire department does not investigate the cause of car fires unless they are considered suspicious or result in other property damage.
