Suspect sent to hospital after officer-involved shooting
FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
One man was taken to the hospital on Monday morning after an officer-involved shooting in Fulton.
A Fulton officer called for backup after an incident Monday and took out his gun and shot the suspect at about 10 a.m., Fulton Police Chief Steve Myers said.
The incident happened behind McIntire Elementary School off of Hickman Avenue, Myers said.
The suspect was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
ABC 17 News crews on scene observed investigators examining a brown sedan that appeared to have crashed into an external wall behind the school building.
It was not immediately clear what started the incident. The officer who shot the suspect was immediately put on administrative leave per protocol, Myers said.
Officers were still on the scene at 11:30 a.m. Monday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was called in to investigate.
Capt. John Hotz, the MSHP spokesperson, said the agency does not have any further information to provide as of the publication of this article.
