Dust and wind cause visibility issues and problems in Mid-MO

Wind and fire advisories and warnings are in effect for much of the region through tonight as fierce winds blow around dust and could cause damages or fires.

The winds are fueled by a modest low pressure system tracking directly over Missouri. This will not be able to produce strong storms in our area, but winds could be near severe thresholds up to 60 mph without any thunderstorms.

Dust could also cause visibility problems and will contribute to a murky haze over the sky. Air quality remains good as this dust has been lofted into the upper atmosphere by the passing storm system.
