Tracking dangerous heat moving in

THIS AFTERNOON: Increasingly sunny, and an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect for extreme heat, with a heat index near 100 degrees today.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and warm, with lows remaining in the 70s. Winds from the southwest will ramp up to 10 to 20 mph.

EXTENDED: Dangerous heat continues on Wednesday, with the heat index in the triple digits. Scattered storms will be possible in the afternoon, but little to no relief from the heat is expected. Triple-digit heat is possible on Thursday, too, and a greater risk of severe storms is forecast for Thursday night. Details on the extreme heat and storms can be found at our Insider Blog. Cooler conditions are forecast for Friday through the weekend, with another cold front expected to drop highs into the low 80s, if not the 70s, by early next week.
