Twins, Correa decide he’ll skip WBC with wife due next month

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa will not play in the World Baseball Classic for family reasons. His wife is expecting a baby during the tournament. The Twins said they made a mutual decision with Correa that he would not join the Puerto Rico national team for the event. Correa’s wife, Daniella, is due with the couple’s second child on March 11. The WBC begins on March 8. Correa signed a six-year, $200 million contract with Minnesota last month. The deal could pay Correa as much as $270 million over 10 seasons if he stays healthy.
