Car damaged in shooting at W. Broadway and Stadium Boulevard intersection

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police say a car was damaged in a shooting near the W. Broadway and Stadium Boulevard intersection Thursday night.

Officers said several shell casings were found in the area but there is no suspect information to provide.

A release from the police department said officers responded to the intersection around 10 p.m. An ABC 17 News crew at the scene said officers closed the intersection and placed multiple evidence markers around the area.

Department spokeswoman Brittany Hilderbrand said a person called Boone County Joint Communications and said their vehicle was hit by gunfire while leaving a business around the time of the shooting. The victim told authorities the shooter was driving a blue four-door passenger car.

Officers did not say if any people were hurt in the shooting.

Columbia police have responded to multiple shootings around the area recently. Thursday, officers arrested 32-year-old Charles Kelly in connection with a shooting on Orchard Lane over the weekend. Boone County prosecutors charged Anthony Jones on Wednesday with a shooting on Greeley Drive last Friday.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to please contact the Columbia Police Department at 573-874-7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
