Columbia’s Summer Lunch Program set to return in June

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia's Summer Lunch Program is set to make its return on June 3 to provide children with free lunches throughout the summer until August 2.

There will be a variety of locations for children 18 and under to go and grab a meal during the day. Public Health and Human Services will be providing lunch at the Armory Sports and Recreation Center from 12 to 1 p.m. starting June 3.

Powerhouse Columbia will also be providing lunch at different locations, but some of the locations will have slightly different times than the armory. The locations and times are as follows:

  • Columbia Housing Authority (CHA) Stewart-Parker Lunch 12 - 12:30 p.m.  Snack 1:30 - 1:45 p.m.
  • CHA Bear Creek - 1109 Elleta Blvd Lunch 12 - 12:30  p.m. Snack 1:30 - 1:45 p.m. 
  • Columbia Square Lunch - 1715 W. Worley St. 11:00 - 11:30 a.m.  Snack 12:30 - 12:45 a.m.
  • Progressive Missionary Baptist Church - 702 Banks Av. 11:00 - 11:30 a.m.  Snack 1:30 - 1:45 p.m.
  • Demaret Dr - 718 Demaret Dr  Lunch 12 - 12:30 p.m.  Snack 1:30 - 1:45 p.m.
  • Indian Hills Park  11 - 11:30 a.m.  Snack 1 - 1:15 p.m. 

The program collaborates with Columbia Public Schools, Columbia Parks and Recreation and Powerhouse. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture through an extension of the school free and reduced lunch program.
